Recording of the Friday evening concert of the 1974 North Carolina Folklife Festival held at Page Auditorium, Duke University, Durham, N.C. Featured are Anglo-American old-time fiddle and banjo music by Tommy Jarrell (1901-1985) and Fred Cockerham (1901- ); African American songs and blues on banjo and guitar by Elizabeth ("Libba") Cotten (1893- 1987); African American gospel music by the Golden Echoes; African American blues on guitar by Willy Trice (1910-1976); early Anglo-American country music by brothers duet the Blue Sky Boys, Bill and Earl Bolick; and bluegrass music by the Bluegrass Experience. Concert MC was folklorist Alan Jabbour and the producer was folklorist George Holt.
